2018 Winner & Finalist Testimonials
It was a huge (and unexpected) honour to be named as the 2018 Women in Finance Ambassador of the Year. Driving greater gender balance has been a top priority for me since taking on the role of Managing Partner for Talent at Deloitte in 2013. I’ve been incredibly proud of the change that has occurred during this time – from increasing our percentage of female partners from 13% in 2013 to 19% today to enabling nearly 50 women to re-enter the workplace through our Return to Work scheme, reducing female attrition and increasing engagement. Receiving the Ambassador award was not only a real personal achievement but also an acknowledgement of everything that we’ve accomplished as a firm.
I am always looking for ways to add value to my clients through better execution and aiming to get as close to perfection as humanly possible. At a time when my client feels lost and vulnerable, she deserves a service that can fully identify and recognise her needs and then deliver on them and make the experience as welcoming as possible. That’s what drives me to continue setting high standards for both myself and my team.
So, therefore, as someone who is always striving to be at the top of my game, awards recognition is very important to me. This is 3rd party recognition of your achievements. I’m very proud to have Women in Finance Awards, Financial Adviser of the year winner for 2017 and 2018. I’d really love to make it a hat trick for 2019.
I feel very honoured to have been recognised by the Women in Finance Awards and to join such an amazing cohort of women contributing their talents and skills to the London finance industry. The feedback from clients and contacts has been overwhelmingly positive and I’ve made a number of powerful new connections through the initiative.
Firstly, coming from the Channel Islands, it was a proud moment to be nominated
With regards to my profile and name awareness, this has certainly increased as has my credibility – being a woman in a man’s world. I feel that my compatriots in the insurance industry now see me as a businesswoman, as opposed to The Wife, as I started the business with my husband 15 years ago.
This is clearly down to the recognition I have received due to my nomination for such a prestigious award.
I am also continuing to study for my Chartered Insurance Status, having achieved my Chartered Loss Adjusting status in 2017 and at 54, I am very much promoting not only progressing in the industry for women but also proving that age is not a hindrance to personal development and further education.
